Assay Development Manager (IHC)

HistoGeneX is a growing global laboratory specializing in the field of immune-oncology. We strive to make a difference in the future treatment options offered to cancer patients. Following successful growth, the immunohistochemistry (IHC) unit is in search for an additional member to strengthen its assay development team.

Assay Development Manager Immunohistochemistry (M/V)

This role will be based in Wilrijk.

Your Responsibilities

As assay development manager you will be responsible for the optimization and validation of high quality IHC stains for use in exploratory and clinical trials. You will manage basic as well as complex IHC projects that result in adequate characterization of tissue samples and contribute to the pursuit of therapeutically relevant biomarkers.

The assay development manager works closely together with the IHC laboratory (lab technicians) and the analysis team (pathologists and imaging scientists). Scientific support and smooth cooperation with the other HistoGeneX departments is also indispensable. Regular communication with pharmaceutical partners will have to be set up.

It is of vast importance that the assay development manager works meticulously on different aspects of its job: laboratory/technical, the setup of experiments, the gathering and interpretation of results and the implementation of quality checks. Project plans, reports and standard operating procedures will be written compliant to the quality procedures at HistoGeneX. The assay development manager will keep up-to-date with literature and technical evolution and keeps track of project-specific timelines and costs.

Profile requirements

  • Master Degree in Science (preferably Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Bioengineering, Pharmaceutical sciences, Biochemistry)
  • You are willing to perform other than routine procedures, to learn, to make improvements to current work flows, to test and implement new methodologies
  • You are willing to work in an international environment
